Los dolores musculares severos rápidamente me llevaron a una silla de ruedas, y luego a un tratamiento largo y complicado con síntomas graves, fui desahuciada sin embargo, mis hijos encontraron un reumatólogo que mejoró significativamente mi condición.

Hoy en día, sigo en tratamiento, camino, hago ejercicio, y tengo la enfermedad bajo control, veo hoy esta difícil experiencia como un recuerdo transformador.

A los 35 años cuando me dieron el diagnóstico fue en Barranquilla Colombia yo soy colombiana pero yo me vine hace cuatro años para este país.

Todo comenzó hace aproximadamente 6 años para ser más precisa.

En este momento tengo 41 años a los 35 años me dieron un diagnóstico de lupus mis síntomas iniciales fueron dolores articulares e inflamaciones que migraban constantemente un día amanecía con el hombro con la rodilla otro día eran las manos los dedos inflamados muy hinchados y con mucho dolor luego empecé a tener pérdida del cabello siempre ha sido una mujer de cabello muy largo y abundante se me empezó a caer muchísimo el cabello y empecé a tener un eritema malar 1 un rojito en la cara el cual no me ardía no me molestaba ni nada era solo la parte visual se veía bastante rojo luego empecé a tener muchísimos dolores pero muchísimos dolores musculares fue así como acudo al Reumatologo y me hacen varios estudios.

Hana´s positivos

El Reumatólogo me clasifica por los Hana’s positivos que los he manejado siempre en 5mil algo Que me catálogo como si fuera lupus.

Tratamiento

A partir de ese momento empecé a tener tratamiento con Platinol y desafore pero nunca había sentido mejoría o sea siempre estaba con dolores de cabeza la pérdida del cabello la inflamación en los dedos y todo eso

Se vió afectada mi vida laboral

Luego aproximadamente hace dos años estando acá en los Estados Unidos empecé a tener problemas en mi trabajo porque me di cuenta que no podía realizar las cosas como normalmente lo hacía siempre.

Temblores

Tenía mucho dolor mucha inflamación pero empecé a tener pérdida de fuerza no lo notaba como pérdida de fuerza sino que lo veía temblaba yo temblaba las manos me temblaban las piernas me temblaban para caminar todo

Afectación generalizada

Recaídas

Pero no contaba con la suerte de dar con un buen Reumatologo incluso tuve una cita con una reumatóloga y ella me quitó todos los medicamentos que yo tenía o sea el Platinol y el de Zafra me lo quitó así de un solo y eso fue horrible porque tuve una recaída peor para resumir que hasta el punto sin poder caminar entonces mis síntomas empeoraron porque ya el enrojecimiento en el rostro ya era muchísimo más fuerte abarcaba mi frente mi nariz mis mejillas el cuello el escote y yo notaba que todo esto empeoraba

Cuando me exponía el sol por cosas mínimas porque sé que me cuido por el sol por el lupus pero por cosas mínimas así sea va a salir a hacer un mandado a la 1 mandado a la a la calle a pie ya el sol para mí era fatal me colocaba súper débil mucho dolor de cabeza muchos dolores musculares y llegué al punto que no podía hacer cosas básicas por mí sola me costaba mucho peinarme me costaba mucho cepillarme los dientes cambiarme todo eso no podía sostener los brazos más arriba de mi cabeza la piel me ardía me picaba me dolía

Cambio de diagnóstico

Fue así como llegó a un Reumatologo y él me hace un panel completo y me diagnostica con Dermatomiositis polimiositis síndrome antifosfolípidos es una como me lo explicó él es un conjunto de varias enfermedades autoinmunes

Tratamiento para Dermatomiositis

Actualmente me encuentro con tratamiento con hidroxicloroquina, inyecciones corticotropina, metrotexato.

El 1 de abril del 2025 inicie el tratamiento con Rituximab.

Realidad actual

Ahora último me lo dieron acá en Estados Unidos es un Reumatólogo venezolano de esos médicos de la vieja guardia esos médicos de antes que yo creo que con sólo mirar ya ellos saben todo lo que uno tiene y pues actualmente me encuentro tomando todo el tratamiento completo me sigue molestando muchísimo la piel la piel del rostro sobre todo siempre me pica mucho me arde mucho hay veces incluso que me duele como en la parte aquí arriba de la nariz he notado disminución de la inflamación en los dedos bastante y bueno me tocó retirarme ahora del último trabajo porque pues mi trabajo acá es más que todo físico requiere bastante fuerza física y trabajo cuidando niños y pues haciendo aseo y eso me ha debilitado bastante pero estoy en una pausa para tomar mi segunda dosis de Rituximab y poder seguir adelante

Al parecer es una característica típica en nuestra enfermedad, y no debida a los medicamentos si no a la activación de la misma enfermedad y a pesar de dejar los medicamentos después de un tiempo, en mi caso, esta situación persiste. 

De ahí lo importante de tener actividad física, que nos facilita el descanso nocturno. Muchas veces los medicamentos que nos recetan ayudan pero por un corto tiempo, es por eso que lo más recomendable es buscar alternativas naturales, en mi caso el citrato magnesio me ha ayudado a tener mejores noches de descanso.

How many of these have you heard before? I would like to share the truth about these common oral health myths I hear from patients almost every day. Read on to learn about them and how to keep your mouth healthy.

1. “You only need to go to the dentist if your teeth hurt.”
